For the first time the carnival of Banjarmasin Sasirangan Festival (BSF) was enlivened with the famous Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) from Jember, East Java, Sunday (March 8, 2020).
"Amazing, this year BSF followed by the Jember Fashion Carnaval," said Banjarmasin City Regional Secretary Hamli Kursani, who saw off the sasirangan carnival.
The JFC has been listed on the National Calendar of Events for three consecutive years. It was said as Asia’s best carnival.
Meanwhile, the BSF carnival this year was attended by thousands of people in various South Kalimantan typical fabric of Sasirangan, from the city government employees, students, till the general public.
Long lines of participants marched from the campus of Antasari State Islamic University (UIN Antasari) to TVRI on Jalan A Yani Km 6.
"Carnival this year is more lively and entertaining, this is as an effort to lift Sasirangan fabric to the world stage," he said.
Previously, Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina said the 2020 BSF held from March 4-8 as a stage to introduce the typical fabric of South Kalimantan to the world.
"Actually the launch of the 4th BSF has been carried out in Bali at the end of February. Bali was chosen as the world tourist destination in Indonesia," Ibnu Sina pointed out.
The BSF was not only carnival, but also expo which was participated by various region in South Kalimantan and also outside the province, such as from East Java, Yogyakarta, Solo, East Barito, and the District of Paser, took place at Duta Mall. The expo also held at the Martapura River Embankment on Jalan Piere Tendean.
