The Banjarmasin Health Agency mentioned there were eight victims of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the city from January to February 2020, and asked residents to be vigilant.

"There is no casualties, all can be handled properly," said head of the agency Machli Riyadi in Banjarmasin, Thursday (Feb 27, 2020).

According to him, steps have been taken by providing education to residents until the number of victim can be suppressed this year.

January to February is very vulnerable month with the spread od dengue, because it is mosquitoes time for laying  eggs.

"It seems that our society is already very vigilant at this time," he said.

His agency has made circular to all community health center (puskesmas) heads and involving community organizations to eradicate the Aedes aegypti mosquito nest by destroying the larvae.

Likewise, the independent larvae inspection program is reactivated, namely one house one jumantik (mosquito larvae controller).

"With the intensive socialization and vigilance since early, (hopefully) there will be no more victim, let alone fatality," he said.
