Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Machli Riyadi revealed that Japan has offered cooperation of nurses, namely for three years of internship.
"They (the Japanese) dare to pay Rp15 million per month," he said here on Wednesday (Feb 19, 2020).
Currently, he said, the Japanese government has a problem with a large number of elderly residents, thus it offering work for nursing staff.
"The Japanese hope that Banjarmasin to send nurses to serve for nursing home and hospitals to care for the elderly," he explained.
The reason, he continued, the Japanese government believes more in nurses from Indonesia than any other country.
"They consider nurses from Indonesia are good, diligent, disciplined, and skillful. There are already a number of Indonesian nurses there," he told.

In fact, during his visit last week to Japan at their invitation, he was taken to see several nursing homes and hospitals, indeed they have extraordinary progress.
"We also learn how to manage a hospital there," he added.

Related to the Japanese government's offer for a nursing staff internship, Machli said, Banjarmasin will follow it up.
"In April we want to invite all health colleges here. We will convey the offer of cooperation," he concluded.
