The Management of dr HM Ansari Saleh General Hospital in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, stated it ready to treat patients exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19) and have prepared two isolation rooms.


Director of the hospital dr Izzak Zulkarnaen, accompanied by Head of Nursing Jumuah here on Tuesday said, until now the hospital has never treated a COVID-19 patient.

"But the hospital still prepares a place of care, medical staff, and paramedics, as well as facilities needed," he affirmed.

The two isolation rooms have three beds and the hospital also has 10 sets of special protective clothing to deal with COVID-19 patients and personal protective equipment (PPE).

"At first we had difficulties to find PPE, because of a lot of requests, even to find PPE special distributor," said Jumuah, who was accompanied by PR Division Muthi'ah.

In addition to isolation rooms, PPE, and other facilities, the hospital has also prepared officers if at any time there are patients suspected of being exposed to the virus.

In general, he affirmed, the Ansari Saleh General Hospital is very ready, especially the hospital on January 30 had conducted socialization about COVID-19, the danger and how to deal with it, with resource person the lung specialist doctor, Dr Paul SpP.

Although the Ansari Saleh General Hospital is designated by the South Kalimantan Health Agency as the referral hospital for treating coronavirus patients, it still prepares itself.

The referral hospitals are the General Hospital of Ulin Banjarmasin and the District Hospital of Hadji Boejasin Pelaihari.

Meanwhile, the death toll of the COVID-19 in China has climbed to 1.868 until Monday (Feb 17, 2020) or up 98 from the previous day, according to the National Health Commission on Tuesday.
