The Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor asked all district government to be on alert for flood and landslide disaster that may happen in their respective regions.

According to him, each district must provide maps of disaster to make it easy to anticipate undesired things.

"Awareness, alertness, and readiness to go down to the field of disaster to help people affected by disaster must continue to be grown, thus we can handle it quickly," he stated,  after a roll call on disaster preparedness here, Wednesday (Jan 22, 2020).

The governor said local government or the disaster mitigation team should be swift in any condition, either in difficult locations or unfavorable weather, to quickly help people affected by the disaster.

Meanwhile, to anticipate flood and landslide that usually occur in rainy season, both provincial and district government have made their effort by dredging blocked river flow, repaired drainage, making waterways, and deepened shallow rivers.

In addition, since January 2, 2020, the South Kalimantan Provincial Government has set emergency status for floods, landslides, whirlwinds, and tidal waves.

"We have carried out roll call together with all elements, including TNI (military), Polri (police), BPBD (disaster mitigation agency), press, firefighters, strengthening sinergy to anticipate and handle the disaster," he pointed out.

According to the governor, disaster management must be done with compact and solid from all elements so it can be done well.
