Schools in the South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District, South Kalimantan, simultaneously carried out clean up action in their effort to eradicate mosquito nests and spreading of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

The Regent of HSS H Achmad Fikry here on Monday (Jan 20, 2020) said, school children could also inform their parents about the important of the clean up movement.

"For the succes of this movement certainly it need support and care from the community, do notjust rely on fogging, it not (enough) to solve the problems," he said, accompanied by Head of Health Agency Hj Siti Zainab.

Fogging only kills adult mosquitoes, while eradication must be done to prevent mosquito breeding in places have the potential to become mosquito breeding grounds by carrying out clean up action in their respective environments.

Hj Siti Zainab said, the agency through community health centers (puskemas) colaborated with sub-district offices and related stakeholders, including village official, in providing counseling, Eradication of Mosquito Nest (PSN), abatization, and fogging.

Chairman of the HSS Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) HM Ridwan Baseri urged the public to do 3M movement, namely to close, drain, and burying objects that support the life cycle of mosquitoes.

"If affected by DHF immediately seek treatment at health facility, but the best thing in accordance with religious guidance is to maintain a clean environment or prevention is better than cure," he pointed out.
