Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - A mine mouth Steam Power Plant (PLTU) with a capacity of 2x30 MW built by PT Makmur Sejahtera Wisesa (MSW), a subsidiary of PT Adaro Energy Tbk, in Tabalong, applying environmentally friendly technology.

It is said by President Director of PT Adaro Power, Muhammad Effendi when met after the Groundbreaking and Inauguration of Master Plan Projects for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) by the President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Wednesday.

"The implementation of environmentally friendly technology is marked by the use of low calorie coal," he said.

In addition, he said, the MSW mine-mouth power plant operation using technology that is able to burn coal. "When discharged into the chimney, the burning of coal again captured by a device that is out almost no ashes," he said.

MSW mine mouth power plant built since 2008 and entered the test phase and synchronization in March 2013.

As from June, the power plant started supplying electricity to PLN and coal mining operations of PT Adaro Indonesia in Tabalong and Balangan.

When fully operational, MSW power plants require a supply of 400,000 tons of E4000 coal annually. "With a net power output of 52.5 MW , MSW power plant is part of a strategy to improve operational efficiency of PT Adaro Indonesia, " he added.

With the ability of PT Adaro Indonesia to meet its own energy needs and is not dependent on PLN , the availability of electrical energy can be allocated to other industries and households in South Kalimantan.

In two districts, respectively Tabalong and Balangan , will be applied to the isolation area where in the event of a power outage by PLN, electricity needs automatically supplied from MSW power plant.

In addition , a Rp1,68 trillion projects is declared will be able to absorb as many as 150 local workers.
