High rainfall with strong wind will continue to occur in a few weeks ahead in South Kalimantan, even up to four meter sea waves, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted.
"In the first 10 days of January 2020 a more than 50 mm rainfall to happen in most part of South Kalimantan with a chance of 90 percent. So watch out of flood, landslides, tree falling caused by rain with strong wind, including high sea waves," the Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Meteorology Station forecaster Bayu Kencana Putra pointed out here, Saturday (Jan 4, 2020).

In additon to South Kalimantan waters, which covers coastal area of Kotabaru, the potential high waves are predicted to occur in center and east part of Java Sea.
The wind blows from west to southwest with a speed ranging from 9 to 26 knots, while waves with a height of up to four meters must be watched out for by fishing vessels, barges, ferries, and big size ships when sailing South Kalimantan waters to the Java Sea.
While on land, Bayu said, heavy rains accompanied with lightnings and strong winds have the potential to occur in almost all areas in the province which consist of thirteen cities and districts.
The extreme weather that is happening now have actually caused flooding in some areas in early January. Heavy rain with a long duration made rivers to overflow.

It has happened in Raya Belanti Urban Village, Binuang Sub-district, in Tapin, as well as in Bangkal, Cempaka sub-district in Banjarbaru and in Tanah Abang Village, Mataraman, Banjar District.
