The South Kalimantan Regional Police have prepared personnel on disaster preparedness during rainy season in contingency operation code name Aman Nusa II 2019.
"Personnel preparedness in dealing with and help mitigating natural disaster is important, in hope to suppress as little as possible the loss of live and material," South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Insp.Gen. Yazid Fanani remarked here, Monday (Dec 17, 2019).
In case of disaster, Yazid instructed his members to be responsive and immediately provide assistance to the residents with limited SAR operation and to secure residents' property left behind when the take refuge.
"Increase synergy with all elements of stakeholders, related parties, and all level of society to jointly play active role in natural disaster mitigation," he called.

In pre-emptive and preventive aspects, he instructed his personnel to conduct early detection and update mapping of natural disaster-prone areas.
He then appealed to the community, especially those in disaster-prone areas, to keep increasing vigilance when natural disaster occur.
"Increase monitoring patrols in areas prone to disaster, so they can be early warning if disaster occur," he pointed out.

The disaster prepredness ceremony, attended by Brimob, Animal Police (K=9), Samapta Directorate, Water and Air Police (Polairud), DVI team, Health and Medical (Bid-Dokkes), showed that the South Kalimantan Regional Police was really prepared to anticipate and to deal with natural disaster if occur.
Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) for Syamsudin Noor Meteorology Station reminded the public to be aware of potential of extreme weather, namely heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the current transition season.
Based on BMKG prediction, the potential of extremen weather events to continue to happen until entering the rainy season.
"Currently the rainfall data shows that the northern part of South Kalimantan is entering rainy season. While other parts of the province are still local rain with mild to moderate," said forecaster of the Syamsudin Noor Meteorology Station Uli Mahanani.
