Psychology personnel of South Kalimantan Regional Police's HR Bureau conducted trauma healing at the site of former Sebuku Island fire in Sungai Bali Village, Kotabaru, to help children to recover from trauma.

"Trauma healing is to bring them back from anxiety and fear after the fire disaster that razed their houses," said Head Psychology of South Kalimantan Police's HR Bureau Adj Sr comr (AKBP) Novian Susilo at the site, Thursday (Dec 12, 2019).

Sungai Bali now become the place of refuge for the victims. Here the South Kalimantan Police psychology team held a series of activities aimed at reducing post-fire anxiety and trauma, in order they will recover and live as before.

"Our main target is of course the children. We invite them to play to grow back their joy. Children's learning spirit must also continue to exist, so we invite them to read interesting stories," Novian pointed out.

Meanwhile, the South Kalimantan Police's Medical and Health officers opened health service for residents at the site.

The South Kalimantan Police also handed over cash donation collected from all work units and units area from all over South Kalimantan, in addition to basic food aid and so on.

Fire disaster broke out in Sungai Bali Village, Pulau Sebuku Sub-district, Kotabaru, on November 23, 2019. The fire razed hundreds of houses and buildings in three neighborhood units (RTs). Even Sebuku Police station was completely burnt down to the ground.

After the fire, South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Ins.Gen. Yazid Fanani immediately instructed his staff to mobilize all assistance for the victims. Even the smallest amount given, said the Chief of Police, would be useful.
