Indonesia has been featured as the official partner country at Hannover Messe 2020, the world's leading trade fair for industrial technology, scheduled to be held in the German city of Hannover on April 20-24, 2020.
"Being selected to be the official partner country at Hannover Messe 2020 demonstrates that Indonesia has been counted. It gives us benefits," top official of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry Doddy Rahadi stated here on Wednesday.
Indonesia's fast-growing open market, its position as a G-20 member, and its biggest economy within the ASEAN were partly contributory to its selection as partner country at this annual event, he told journalists.
Indonesian companies can capitalize on the event that will feature a trade exhibition along with a broad range of forums, conferences, and special events to study the present and future direction of industry 4.0, he stated.
During this five-day event, robotics and electric vehicles are among the several fields to be highlighted to attendees at next year's event bearing the theme of industrial transformation and featuring some six thousand exhibitors.
Several other fields to also grab attention during the event were related to industrial manufacturing technology, energy, information technology, startups' innovations, and solutions to logistics, Rahadi revealed.
Rahadi, currently director general of International Industrial Access Security and Development at the Ministry of Industry, drew attention to three goals behind Indonesia's participation in next year's event.
Firstly, Indonesia is keen to put the spotlight on its achievements and progress in Industrial Revolution 4.0. Secondly, it is keen to attract more partners for cooperation in investment, technology, and skill improvement.
The third goal pertains to Indonesia's interest to showcase the ecosystem of its startups for industrial products, Rahadi stated, adding that Indonesia has striven to attract more foreign investors to come and invest in the country.
The Indonesian government has tackled several regulation-related barriers in a bid to attract foreign investors. Consequently, South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company, for instance, has hinted at its intent to build a car factory.
The car factory, with a total investment of US$1.55 billion (Rp21.7 trillion), will produce SUV and MPV products. It will also contemplate on producing electric vehicles.
As published on the Hannover Messe official website, this annual event is the most important international platform and hot spot for industrial transformation, with excellent innovations or unusual products.
Involving the participation of six thousand exhibitors and 200 thousand visitors, the Hannover Messe 2020 leads the theme of "Industrial Transformation" that describes the effects that the megatrends of individualization, climate protection, and − more specifically – digitization, are having on the industry.
