Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Head of the Banjarbaru State Police School (SPN) AKBP Ebet Gunandar Sik planted typical tree of Borneo, ulin, namely to preserve it.
The planting of Eusideroxylon zwageri (Latin name of the tree) or commonly called ironwood was done in the SPN in the Village of Sungai Besar, Banjarbaru City, Monday.
"We deliberately plant the seeds of ironwood to preserve as well as save it from extinction," said Ebet after tree planting in order of 61st Bhayangkari Unity Day Motion (HKGB).
Number of ironwood tree seedlings planted in the yard of SPN and on the football field next the police school are 100 tree seedlings.
Besides ironwood trees, shade trees seeds are also planted like sengon, mahogany and fruit trees around the school which bear noncommissioned police.
"This tree is not us who will enjoy, but our children and we hope that in the next 10-20 years and shady trees flourish, so that adds beauty of the surrounding environment," he said.
Tree planting activities in the SPN Banjarbaru performed symbolically by South Kalimantan Police Bhayangkari Chief Lita Machfud Arifin accompanied by Bhayangkari officials.
