The Banjarmasin Environment Agency (DLH) targetted all schools in the city to be environmentally cultured or what so called as adiwiyata school.

Head of Environment Dept of Banjarmasin Environment Agency Dwi Naniek declared the target at the opening operation of a waste bank in the state elementary school of SDN Basirih 1 on Jalan Tembus Mantuil, South Banjarmasin, Monday (Sept 30, 2019). She was accompanied by the headmaster Saprani.

All school, she said, are expected to be environmentally friendly to result comfort and easiness in learning and teaching process in the school.

Naniek, who came with staff and environmentalist group Forum Komunitas Hijau, hoped every school to have garbage bank, shade tree, and environmental friendly canteen that does not provide food contains dangerous ingredients.

The agency, she continued, keeps encouraging all schools to build waste bank and to arrange their yard with green plants or decorative plants, while the school buildings are environmentally friendly.

"This room, for example, you don't need to use light it already bright,  use no fan or aircon it already cool. All school try to make windows those are easily opened, so the wind will in and the rooms will be cool," she pointed out.

On the occasion, DLH handed out 100 garbage bank saving books.
