More than 5.000 karateka have broke the MURI record in performing kata movement with most participants here, Sunday.
MURI's Manager Triyono handed over the record certificate to the Governor of South Kalimantan who led the karateka in their performance at the car free day area in Banjarmasin.
"Thank you all karateka from all-over South Kalimantan who participated here today where we together break the record of karate training with the most participants in Indonesia," said the governor.
MURI's Manager Triyono said, 5.502 karateka were calculated from children to adults participant took part in the performance to break the record as part of the peak of the commemoration of the 2019 National Sport Day.
"The calculation was done when the karateka were prepared in line and it involved two verifier," he said.

He pointed out that this record has broken the mass kata performance which involved 3,000 karateka in Bandung in 2016.
One of the participants, Hendra Wahyudi from the karate school of Lemkari, said it need one week to prepare for the breaking record performance in Banjarmasin.
"There 90 of us from Lemkari who participate," Hendra said.
Deputy of Sports Culture Ministry of Youth and Sport Raden Isnanta said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of South Kalimantan karateka in record-breaking effort.
"MURI record with the most participants is extraordinary. With such a large number at least it inspire peope to participate in karate," Isnanta said.
