KRI Dewa Kembar 932, one of Navy's Hydrography and Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal) warships visited Kotabaru District on Monday.
Kotabaru Naval Base Commander Sea Lt. Col. (P) Guruh Dwi Yudhanto, who previously served as KRI Dewa Kembar Commander, enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of the ship.
"We will certainly give more opportunities to the entire community of Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu to visit the KRI Dewa Kembar again," he said.
KRI Dewa Kembar which moored on Pelindo Stagen III Port in Kotabaru was open for public starting Tuesday (8/13). Openship is planned for three days with visiting hours at 09.00-18.00 Central Indonesia Time.
"The KRI was bought from public money, so it was the property of the people and for the people," said KRI Dewa Kembar Commander Sea Lt. col (P) Agus Triyana.
KRI Dewa Kembar is one of seven ship owned and operated by Pushidrosal. Its main task is to map the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lanes to help provide safe routes for civilian ships sailing in Indonesian waters.

The arrival of the KRI Dewa Kembar this time was in the context of the Archipelagic Sea Lanes of Indonesia (ALKI II) survey in the Kotabaru area. ALKI II crosses the Sulawesi Sea, Makassar Strait, Flores Sea and Lombok Strait. At the end of 2018, KRI Dewa Kembar also carried out an operation to update the cross-sea channel data in Kotabaru Regency.
The 60-day operation is in line with the renewal of the sea map as more and more shipping lanes pass through ALKI II from the Makassar Strait to the Java Sea and vice versa through the southern waters of Pulau Laut.
