The legislators in Kotabaru DPRD, South Kalimantan, will soon coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation to urge the operation of the passenger ship (KMP) to open the East Pulau Laut - Sebuku Island shipping route.

Deputy Chairperson of Kotabaru DPRD Muhammad Arif here on Thursday said that the KMP Bamega ferry is an assistance from the central government, which is intended for the people in Kotabaru, especially to serving the Pulau Laut-Sebuku Island route.

Both on Sebuku Island and Pulau Laut, precisely in Teluk Gosong Village, East Pulau Laut, a pier has been built with funding from the central government.

With the completion of the construction of these two facilities the operation of the KMP Bamega should run. In fact, the two public facilities with large budgets cannot be utilized.

Responding to these problems, the legislator who was a former lawyer stated that he would coordinate internally with relevant agencies in the area. "If it hasn't produced results, we will convey this problem to the central government," he empashized.
