Tabanan, Bali (ANTARA) - Domestic tourist visits in Tanah Lot tourist attraction, Tabanan District, Bali, dropped drastically following the increase in airplane ticket prices, and probably was due to the factor of Ramadhan Islamic fasting month.
"After the selling price of airplane tickets soared, travelers especially domestic tourists visiting Tanah Lot, decreased by 20 percent, but foreign tourist visits remained relatively unchanged," said Head of Public Relations Division of Tanah Lot touris office, Putu Erawan, here on Sunday.
Antara new agency's correspondent in the tourist site reported the atmosphere in the tourist area on Saturday (05/11/2019) and Sunday (05/12/2019) was not as crowded as usual, the number of domestic tourists was not too much, but foreign tourists dominated the visits to the tourist attraction.
According to Putu Erawan, before the airline ticket increased, the visits of local tourists to Tanah Lot could reach 5,824 people per day, but the domestic tourist visits recorded on May 1-10 2019 were only 820 people.
In addition to the price of airplane tickets, he estimated that the condition of the people who are fasting during the month of Ramadan is also a factor in the decline in domestic tourist visits which are not like on a typical day.
However, the number of foreign tourist visits is still normal, because data on foreign tourists visiting the Tanah Lot tourist site until May 10, 2019 are still recorded at 4,346 people.
"This number is still normal and has yet to decline," he said.
To increase the number of domestic tourist visits to Tanah Lot, his party will carry out a marathon promotion through cooperation with the Tabanan district administration.
