Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibn Sina. (Sukarli Ant).
The Banjarmasin City Government will intensify the handling of slums through a regional regulation on planning and quality improvement of slum housing and slum settlements.
Mayor Ibnu Sina in Banjarmasin said on Wednesday he had set seven mapping slums in the provincial capital.
"So from 530 hectares of slums in this area, seven areas for better processing have been mapped, such as the West Kelayan, Pelambuan and surrounding areas. With this mapping automatically entered into the handling through the" Kotaku" (city without slums) program," he said.
"Banjarmasin always gets this program (the central government assistance), even the funds are quite large, more than Rp30 billion this year," he said.
The assistance, he said, had a major impact on reducing slums in the city with 52 urban villages. "Now the report is only 300 hectares of slum area in our area," he said
