The Regent's commitment to improving the welfare of his citizens through rasda is indeed effective in reducing poverty,Tanjung, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Government of Tabalong's policy of implementing a rice welfare program (Rasda) turned out to be quite effective in alleviating poverty in the district.
Evidently, from year to year, the poverty rate in this region fell by around 0.5 percent. In 2017 the number of poor residents was 15,000 households or 6.09 percent fell to 13,422 households in 2018.
The Rasda program reduces the living burden of the poor, so they can work or try to improve their welfare.
Until 2018 there were 3,467 heads of households (KK) receiving Rasda in 12 sub-districts and the total families of beneficiaries of rice from both of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and the rasda were 14,462 families.
"The Regent's commitment to improving the welfare of his citizens through rasda is indeed effective in reducing poverty," explained Head of the Tabalong Social Agency Yuhani.
Within one month, one poor citizen received 10 kilograms of prosperous rice which is distributed directly through the village and urban village by Bulog until June 2018.
Currently, the distribution of rasda is carried out by the Tabalong Local Public Company (Perumda).
Tabalong Government also received an award from the Ministry of Social Affairs as the Best Performer of Non-Cash Food Aid by the Minister of Social Affairs, November 7, 2018.
Since July 2018, Tabalong Perumda buys rice from local farmers for the rasda program to provide rice for the poor. This has an impact on increasing the income of local farmers while saving local money up to one hundred million rupiah in one year.
Yuhani said the rice purchased from local farmers was Impari, Cihirang and IR varieties which of better quality.
Farmers themselves according to Yuhani were greatly benefited because their crops could be bought by the government at a price of IDR 8,000 per kg, higher than the usual price.
While Perumda actually provides other benefits for Tabalong government because the selling price of rice from Perumda (Rp. 9,270) is cheaper than Bulog (Rp. 9,700 per kg).
Another impact of the distribution of rasda by buying rice from local farmers, money will spin in Tabalong.
Furthermore, for 2019 the Tabalong District Government has allocated more than Rp20 billion to continue the rasda and PKH program in the hope that the poverty problem can be further resolved.
With the commitment of the regional head in implementing social welfare the Ministry of Social Affairs awarded the Regent of Tabalong Anang Syakhfiani with Satyalancana Social Service to at the height of the commemoration of the 2018 National Social Solidarity Day (HKSN) in Gorontalo, Thursday (20/12).
