Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Marine resources of Tanah Laut (Tala) District has not been fully developed, said a legislator.


Though Tala Marine resources are also quite potential, said Secretary of Commission II of South Kalimantan DPRD Imam Supratowo in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.

Its potential marine resources are not only in the form of marine fisheries, but other marine biotas, continued the PDI-P politician who representing the electoral district of Banjarbaru and Tala.

According to him, it may be time for local government and people to divert their attention to maximize the utilization of marine resources.

"If Tala has been involved in agribusiness in the form of food crops and plantations, as well as mining business, it may be time to utilize marine resources," he advised.

The problem is, the mining business in time must be exhausted because it can not be renewed, while the sustainable marine resources will not run out as long as the management is good and correct, he added.

"I believe that by maximizing the utilization of marine resources will not only boost the people's economy, but also the local revenue," Imam said.

Tala is one of marine fishery production centers. The area is in the southern part of the province and borders with the Java Sea.
