Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Mayor of Banjarmasin H Ibnu Sina said his government continues to seek solutions to deal with severe traffic congestion that is predicted to occur within the next five years.

According to him, overcoming the problem of motor vehicle volume growth is not an easy thing. Because it concerns many people's interests.

"Our solution is road engineering as it is now, also later we will do more road addition," he said at City Hall, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Head of the City Transportation Agency Ichwan Nur Khalik said, if the growth of motor vehicle volume is not suppressed, the congestion in Banjarmasin will get worse.

In fact, he predicted, in the next five years the problem of traffic jam in Banjarmasin could be worse than Jakarta.

"I can not imagine the next five years of traffic in Banjarmasin, this is just now like Jakarta," he said.

He said the agency have been made various efforts to deal with the problem of traffic jams which getting worse. Many roads have been engineered, such as u-turn closure or road current sharing.

"It is one of ways to overcome traffic jams. The more obstacles, the more volume of vehicles, the more jammed," he explained.

According to Ichwan, the absence of restrictions on the number of vehicles, especially in Banjarmasin, only benefits the businessmen.

"For the car company the vehicle getting more and more is fun, but for us even add to the headache," he added.
