Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Chairperson of Legislative Council (DPRD) of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Suwanti, accompanied by first and second deputy chairs, received dozens of demonstrators from several organizations on Thursday.
The council met the protesters, who are members of Aliansi Advokasi Rakyat untuk Nusantara (ARUN), KAPAK, Pemuda Revolusi, INSAN, KAHMI and TANI during a demonstration in front of the DPRD office.
Then, the council speaker invited them to go in into the joint commission meeting room on the second floor of the DPRD.

In his oration, Chairman of ARUN Wahid Hasim conveyed several demands and evaluated the performance of Kotabaru DPRD.
They demanded that the council members to seriously overseeing the government's budget and performance, addressing the rampant illegal mining, and alleged project ”fee” practices.
They expressed their concern over various issues threatening people's land and right, including potential evictions, and demanded environmental pollution around companies to be addressed.
They also demanded serious attention of the Kotabaru DPRD to people's aspirations, particularly fishermen, and urged that every fiction to commit to proactively collecting public aspirations.
After delivering their speeches, the protesters were received by DPRD chairperson, deputy chairpersons, and several members for a public hearing (RDP).
