Do not let only a few people refused Unlam to ULM was then assumed that everyone refused. Many of those who received, (it was) in the Senate unanimously approved,
Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 10/3 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Lambung Mangkurat University Rector Prof. Hadi Sutarto stated the change of Unlam to ULM stands by decision of the senate.

"Do not let only a few people refused Unlam to ULM was then assumed that everyone refused. Many of those who received, (it was) in the Senate unanimously approved," he said in Banjarmasin on Friday.

Sutarto said the parties had denounced the campus shorter term changes do not have authority, because the process of change was appropriate rules in the Senate level.

"If there is aspiration it should be delivered in the Senate, do not talk in the media as if the aspirations of all," he said.

He was suspecting their ambitions of a handful of people who dispute ULM for private purposes, until he did not want to respond too far.

"Members of the senate are all intelligent, even know any people who are ambitious utilize this platform for their own interests. Do not carry the campus into the realm of politics," he said.

He explained that the designation change Unlam to ULM is nothing new, since the campus was established on 21 September 1958 it already familiar with the ULM. Then around 1960 there was a change for the Unlam.

The central government's policy was all over the naming of university must be prefixed the word "Un". For example, Sriwijaya University became Unsri, Padjadjaran University into Unpad and including the University of Lambung Mangkurat became Unlam.

"Designation of Unlam for our campus was rated by portion of the senate as disadvantages, because many outsiders assume Lam was Lampung. Then the idea came up, and I as a rector contained it," said Sutarto.

Now abbreviation for the name of campus is popular. For example, UI for the University of Indonesia and UGM for Gadjah Mada University, until the campus here wanted to be known as ULM and this is already familiar.
