Rantau, South Kalimantan, 24/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Rubber prices at farmer level in South Kalimantan recovered to Rp9 thousand to Rp12 thousand per kilogram, after it dropped in the last few years to a price from Rp3 thousand to Rp5 thousand.

Some rubber farmers in Tapin district said on Tuesday, they are now back to spirit to go to the plantation after few years of wearied.

"This is a very good development for us, because the price is almost recovered like a few years ago. The improvement of rubber price is expected can be long," said Baihaki.

Baihaki, a farmer in the Salam Babaris Village, said farmers were delighted over the high rubber price in early 2017. "Alhamdulillah the price is back to normal like before, getting the spirit to tap into the plantation," he said.

According to Baihaki, current rubber pricein Tapin is Rp9 thousand to Rp12 thousand per kilogram.

That price, he added, much higher than the price of rubber during 2016, which only ranged between Rp5 thousand and sometimes below it. The low price of rubber, he said, making farmers often lazy to tap rubber, even some farmers choose to keep the rubber trees were not tapped.
