Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Tabalong, South Kalimantan, issued a letter determining emergency alert status in anticipating and preparedness of potential disasters in 'Bumi Saraba Kawa'' (Tabalong's nickname) in 2024.
Regent Anang Syakhfiani asked all parties and elements of community to play an active role in the handling of complexities and to reduce the risk of natural disasters in Tabalong District.
"All parties need to collaborate in the mitigation of disasters, from floods, tornadoes, and landslides," Anang stated at the preparedness roll call at the Giat Park, Tanjung, Monday.

Anang checked the readiness of personnel and equipments accompanied by Tabalong Police Chief AKBP Anib Bastian, Commander of 1008/Tanjung Military Command Lt. Col. Inf. Catur Witanto and Head of Tabalong Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Haris Fakhrozi.
He then handed over an assistance of rubber boats to 11 UPBS (self-reliant disaster management units) in flood prone areas and four large rubber boats for Tabalong Police, Military Command (Kodim 1008), UPBS Ujung Murung, and Brimob (Police Mobile Brigade).
Anang admitted that the demand for dsaster management equipment assistance was quite high and in the first stage was funded through the 2023 revised budget. 11 boats were provided for UPBS in flood prone areas.
The ceremony, which was attended by BPBD Tabalong, UPBS, Health Office, TNI/Polri, and business institution, was an important part in anticipation of the potential disasters.
Police Chief AKBP Anib Bastian apealed to the public not to letter as it could trigger floodings.
In addition, the police together with local Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency) and 1008/Tabalong Military Command to carry out joint training in the PT Conch and Marido areas.
