In the letter signed by the Head of the South Kalimantan Forestry Agency Rachmadi Kurdi it was mentioned PT Eternal Richway has been clearing forest area for cement raw materials beyond the limits of use permit.
"The letter asking PT Eternal Richway to stop land clearing activities in forest areas was submitted in June 2016, including a copy to the Tabalong Forestry and Plantation Agency," said a member of rangers in Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP) Tabalong Yandi Sa`ban in Tanjung Thursday.
This command is a follow up of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) payment verification implemented by the Forest Area Consolidation Center Region V and South Kalimantan Forestry Agency.
As a company that produces limestone, PT Eternal Richway just get a use permit forest area of 5.9 hectares, but in fact the land clearing also conducted beyond the forest use permit.
An NGO activist Rusmadi said local governments must act decisively against company convicted of offenses against Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry.
"Do not let alone offenses committed considering limestone exploitation activities in the forest area can impact on environmental degradation," said Rusmadi.
PT Eternal Richway is one of the sub-contractor of PT Conch cement plants operating in South Kalimantan Saradang Village, Sub-district of Haruai, Tabalong.
