Regent HSS expected this training helpful in prevention rather than tackling forest fires because it will be more effectiveKandangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent of South Hulu Sungai H Achmad Fikry opened a lauching of prevention and control of forest and land fires (karhutla) through a community-based early detection in the Datu Durabu field, Kalumpang.
Project Head of PT Surya Sejahtera (PT SLS) Wahyu Supwantoro described these activities in the form of joint training of Preparedness Emergency Response Team (TKTD) of PT SLS and Fire Concerned Farmers (KTPA) of Kalumpang and Simpur Sub-districts as well as the handover of nine pumps and KTPA uniforms.
The event began with a demonstration of skills by TKTD plantation with 96 members, 14 TKTD trainees and the KTPA of Simpur and Kalumpang. The training participants consisted of 50 representatives from the KTPA Simpur and Kalumpang and 14 from TKTD PT SLS.
Amara South Kalimantan Area Director Didik Martanto revealed the training activities was a joint effort of prevention of forest and land fires (Karhutla) in PT SLS and the surrounding community.
He said early detection is important to prevent fires. With two days of training is expected fire prevention efforts will be maximized, as is done in a compact, fast response and supported by KTPA in the local area.
Regent HSS expected this training helpful in prevention rather than tackling forest fires because it will be more effective. He insisted to keep monitoring the condition particularly if hotspots found to immediately coordinate with relevant parties to do mitigation measures of fire hazard.
Coordination is important because the situation already entered the dry season. It should be quickly to be overcome in order not to widespread. Likewise, there is now support of satellite technology that hotspots can always be motitored.
He also appreciated the contribution of PT SLS, engaged in oil palm plantations, in the prevention and control of forest and land fire.
The event was attended by DPRD HSS speaker Syamsuri Arsyad, HSS District Military 1003 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Rudy Namsyah, Forest and Plantation Agency head Hj Fatimatuzzahra, and heads of subdistricts.
