We hope this year can be realized, because over-capacity prison in our region is the highest in Indonesia,"
Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalimantan) - Head South Kalimantan Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Kemenhumham) Imam Suyudi revealed the habitable capacity of three prisons will be added.

The three prison are Teluk Dalam Prison in Banjarmasin, Narcotics Prison in Karang Intan, Banjar Regency, and Children Detention Centers in Martapura, said Imam in Banjarmasin on Friday.

"Because of inhabitants of this three prisons already greatly exceeds the capacity, so they need to be added," he said.

South Kalimantan, said Imam, has proposed a means of adding capacity in the three prisons to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. "We hope this year can be realized, because over-capacity prison in our region is the highest in Indonesia," he said.

Overcapacity in Teluk Dalam Prison reached 680 percent. It is highest in Indonesia. "From capacity should only be occupied by 360 inmates, but prisoners are now inhabited by thousands of people," he said.

Therefore, Imam said, the capacity will be added by increasing the prison building, which will not be extended because the area is depleted.

He stated prisons in this area have excess capacity of about 270 percent and the majority of inmates caught in drug cases.

He confirmed the control of detention and prison increasingly tightened from drug trafficking.

"Our obstacles guards force we have still less, but we kept the spirit to improve management," said Imam.
