Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - As many as 77 farmers' groups in Tanah Laut regency have been given permission by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to work on an area of 8,860 hectares of forest land.


The official letters of permits use of forest land were handed over by the Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership and Forestry Hadi Daryanto at the 2016 National Seminar on Social Forestry in Banjarbaru, Thursday.

According to Daryanto, granting permission to work on state-owned forest land to 77 farmers groups in Tanah Laut was the establishment of Community Forestry program that encouraged by the government to take up to 35 years.

"The goal is the community can utilize the forest area in their neighborhood for nurseries, planting, maintenance and harvesting can yield economies, including fruit trees intercropping can be done," he said.

He said the granting of permits for utilizing forest land by the government only for indigenous people around. Every five years its use will be evaluated if it is appropriate expectations.

"If any of utilizing forest area, for example, made for palm land or worked as a coal mine, then a license will be revoked," he said.

According to Hadi, the development of social forestry in South Kalimantan not only in the Tanah Laut, but also for the community being processed in Tanah Bumbu, Tapin, Tabalong, South Hulu Sungai, and Balangan.

KTKm Ingin Maju chairman of Tebing Siring village, Tanah Laut, Gajali Rahman said it is already utilizing forest land that was given approximately four hectares per member to crop production, both rubber and fruit.

According to him, a total of 77 community forest farmer groups given permission by the Ministry of of Environment and Forestry was in 40 villages in the district.

"We are very grateful, finally our application to utilize the forest area in our region for a productive plant given permission, we will certainly guard," he explained.
