Balangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Balangan Government resumed construction of Pitap Dam with state budget funds amounting to Rp85 billion.

    
Head of Balangan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Akhriani here on Thursday revealed that land acquisition for the dam and irrigation networks of Pitap to be carried out in 2016.
   
"This year land acquisition for irrigation network will be in the Sub-district of Awayan and Tebing Tinggi with an area of approximately 65 hectares," he said.

He added that the budget for the continuation construction of Pitap weir comes from central funds through the State Budget (APBN).

According to him, the dam is programmed to irrigate more than 4 thousand hectares of paddy fields in four sub-districts in Balangan, namely Awayan, Batumandi, Lampihong and South Paringin.
    
The laying of first stone of Pitap conducted in 2005 by the Governor of South Kalimantan Sjachriel Darham with Rp19 billion state budget funds done by a contractor PT Adhi Karya.
    
Dam and irrigation network of Pitap will be increased from rain-fed irrigation into technical irrigated areas, by creating a weir on the river of Pitap and its irrigation networks.
