Batola's athlete joins national training camp

Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The Barito Kuala (Batola) chapter of Indonesian Badminton Association's (PBSI) feels proud one of its athletes entered the National Training Camp (pelatnas) in Jakarta.

The local PBSI coach Agung told AntaranewsKalsel here on Saturday that one of the Batola's badminton players, Alfito Pringgo Yudanto, is now in Jakarta joining the national training.

Alfito Pringgo Yudanto is a resident of Batola district who lives on Jalan Veteran RT 23 RW 04, Marabahan UrbanVillage, Marabahan Sub-district, he said.

The graduate of MAN Marabahan, who was born in Samarinda, has been training at the Berkat Abadi Club in South Kalimantan.

"Unpredictedly in the PBSI national selection at the Cipayung Pelatnas, Alfito won the adult singles category. As a non-seeded, Alfito managed to fill the Pelatnas slot and was the only one from outside Java," said Agung, who is a badminton coach and reliable athlete belonging to the South Kalimantan PWI who often strengthen the region to the National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas).

According to Agung, it was actually the club and the coach of the Berkat Abadi Club who play the most role. He was only appointed by the PBSI board of South Kalimantan to assist according.

"Indeed, sometimes Alfito also trains at the Jaya Perkasa Marabahan Club, but he is at the Berkat Abadi Club Banjarmasin," he said while acknowledged that he was proud that Batola athletes could qualify for the National Training Camp.

Thus, it turns out that athletes outside Java can also pass the selection to Pelatnas, not inferior to badminton athletes in Java, he added.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of PBSI - as reported by Antara - is preparing its athletes to face the SEA Games and the Thomas-Uber Cup at almost the same time in May, so that the Cipayung National Training Camp's resources are divided into two teams with equal strength.
