Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Tabalong is building an agribusiness market in Kembang Kuning Village, Haruai Sub-district, as a South Kalimantan's potential food outlet to welcome the new state capital in Penajam Paser Utara District, East Kalimantan.
Tabalong Regent Anang Syakhfiani here on Thursday said that Tabalong's position on the border of South and East Kalimantan is very strategic as a buffer for the country's new capital.
The distance between Tabalong and the new state capital is about 200 kilometers. It will be a strategic potential to supply food to the new capital.
Thus, the agribusiness market, which is prepared on the side of the highway in an area of 1.3 hectares, has the potential as an outlet for South Kalimantan food potential.
"It is impossible for East Kalimantan people who need rice to go directly to Banjar District, or to go Barito Kuala when they need orange. Surely the residents of the new capital will come to the nearest Tabalong or border," he said.
"I have just signed an agreement with Barito Kuala Regent Normiliyani regarding the development of this agribusiness market," he said.
It is hoped that all other regions in South Kalimantan will cooperate to fill the market.

"This agribusiness market can become the main base for cultivating vegetables and other horticultural crops," said Anang.
"Not only agricultural products, but this market will also later become means of marketing fisheries and other commodities," added Head of Tabalong Industry and Trade Agency Husin Ansyari.
Furthermore, farmers are also expected to make this agribusiness market alive and can be used optimally.
