Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Since August 4, 2021, Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District changed its status from the orange zone (with mild risk) to the red zone (high risk) with an increase of 30 to 50 positive cases per day. During the red zone, 1 to 5 people died from COVID-19.
The latest data shared by the HST Communication and Informatics Agency (Dinas Kominfo) with a source from the Health Agency, for four consecutive days from August 11 to 14, 2021 an average of 50 people tested positive for COVID-19.
At the beginning of the orange zone, 1,774 positive cases were recorded, now the number has jumped to 2,304 infected people. there was an increase of 530 people within 11 days.
The death rate was also increasing, from 114 to 140 people. During the 11-days red zone, 26 people died until Saturday.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate from 1,385 people during the orange zone increased by 331 to a total of 1,716 people. During the 11 days of the red zone, an average of 30 people recovered per day.
However, compared to the rest of South Kalimantan, HST is relatively low n finding positive cases of COVID-19, still in 10th position out of 13 districts and cities in total.
The increase in COVID-19 cases caused the simultaneous election of pembakal or village heads (pilbakal) to be postponed to an undetermined time based on a circular signed by acting District Secretary Muhammad Yani on behalf of the HST Regent numbered 412/329/PD-DPMD/VIII/2021.
HST Deputy Regent H Mansyah Sabri asked the public to remain calm and keep positive thinking. According to him, the decision to postpone the election was made for the safety of all the district residents.
