Amuntai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - As many as 189 craftsmen in North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District, South Kalimantan, received packages of assistance from Yayasan BUMN Untuk Indonesia (the State-owned Enterprise for Indonesia Foundation) and the National Handicraft Council (Dekranas)
Chairperson of the HSU chapter of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranasda HSU) Hj Anisah Rasyidah Wahid here on Friday, March 5, 2021, said that the assistance was intended to ease the burden of the craftsmen who were affected by the flood.
"Hopefully the assistance in the form of basic food package relieve the burden of our craftsmen. We know that they are not only affected by the flood, but handicraft business also experiencing difficulties in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic," she said.
Yayasan BUMN Untuk Indonesia and Dekranasda HSU, she said, hoped that the assistance to motivate the craftsmen to continue their business.
Anisah thanked the Yayasan BUMN Untuk Indonesia for the care and assistance provided, as well as for the South Kalimantan Dekranasda.
Representing HSU craftsmen, Suriansyah from Teluk Baru Village, Amuntai Selatan Sub-district, expressed his gratitude for the assistance.
"The handicraft business we work on has been somewhat choked up by the flood, it needs time to recover, especially in the midst of the pandemic," he said.
Acting Head of HSU Trade and Industry Office Muhammad Rafiq said that the government's effort to help improve the welfare of the craftsmen is through coaching and training.
"We improve the quality and design of handicraft products and develop marketing through digitalization," he said.
