"Entering the third day of search, two more bodies are found," said Commander of South Kalimantan Police's Mobile Brigade Unit Sr Comr (Kombespol) Ronny Suseno.
The joint team consisted of Batallion A Pelopor personnel, the Batulicin District Military Command, Tanah Bumbu Police, BPBD (Disaster Mitigation Agency) and volunteers continued to conduct a search at the disaster site in Mentawakan Mulya Village, Mentewe Sub-district km 33.
Based on local residents reports, a total of 10 people were buried in the manual mine on Sunday (Jan 24, 2021). While 12 workers survived. Five of them had escaped the landslide, and seven others were evacuated on Monday (Jan 25, 2021).
Ronny acknowledged that the process of searching for victims were constrained by difficult terrain, where mine tunnel has branches of varying length.
Then water mixed mith mud also made it difficult for the team, because the bodies of victims were not easily visible.
"Hopefully the weather will not rain, so it will make it easier for the SAR team to search. We are trying to prevent water and mud from entering the mudslide again," he said.
