Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Head of the South Kalimantan Education Agency Ngadimun stated, the agency continues to work to improve the quality of teachers for Early Childhood Education Program (PAUD) in the province.
He pointed out his statement in his office on Friday, responding to DPRD'S recommendations to governor's 2013 accountability report (LKPJ), primarily related to education.
Former Head of Basic Education in the agency admitted, not all PAUD teachers in the province that comprises of 13 districts and cities have a standard quality, because of teachers and PAUD facilities number too many. While the budget for improving the quality of teachers is relatively limited.
Early childhood facilities growth and development in South Kalimantan seems like mushrooms in the rainy season, open not only in urban areas but also in rural communities, he added.
In South Kalimantan until recently 3,700 units of early childhood education listed, and only 48 of them are state school. Others are private or by local NGOs.
Among the agency effort is to give a briefing for early childhood teachers with technical and practical education, in order to equalize the educational system of perception, as well facilities and infrastructure for the early childhood education, since five years ago. The agency collaborate with the Faculty of Education (FKIP) of the Lambung Mangkurat University.
"If the first method of early childhood education is `learn while playing it is now changed to `play while learning' in accordance with the character and mental development of children," he said.
