FKH Greening Banjarmasin With Lukut Plants

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Environmentalists organizations, Forum Komunikasi Hijau(FKH) of Banjarmasin, proving it desire to greening the capital of the province with a thousand of Lukut plants.

On Saturday morning , dozens of members of FKH go cycling by onthel (bike) to the location to plant hundreds of Lukut along the Lambung Mangkurat road at the front of Hotel Arum and Hotel Mentari.

Undaunted by the rain, FKH members climb trees and put Lukut plant on the parent tree, so seen this type of orchid plants hanging in a tambesi tree in the area.

"We agreed greening Banjarmasin with Lukut plants. This initial phase with approximately 150 plants have been installed in the tree parent and next week there will be thousands more Lukut. This will be greening the city," said Akhmad Arifin, FKH member.

Lukut seed taken from Meratus Mountains in Balangan districts. Plant Lukut (one family with forests orchid) selected to green the city, because the plants absorb carbon, as well as easy nurseries, easily found in the woods, easily maintained, shady and beautiful.

Based on the information , the plant is widely available in the tropical wet forest of Balangan districts, and likes to stick in a palm tree, big trees, wood anything that grows in the temperate moist area.

"In our opinion, orchid plants are species easily attached in a variety of tree planting, because it not damage the parent plant," said Akhmad Arifin.

He felt sure , these plants will beautify the city , because based on experience in other cities that utilize types

this plant is so beautiful to green the city as shown in Yogyakarta , Solo, and others in Java.
