RSGM Gives Free Medical for Two Years

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - South Kalimantan Dental Hospital provides medical services and dental care free of charge for two years in a row.

The free dental treatment program marked the inauguration of RSGM operational by Governor Rudy Ariffin on Monday. RSGM built with magnificent alongside the Ulin General Hospital. It named RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman as a tribute to the former Governor of South Kalimantan, who served in 1995 to 2000.

Governor Rudy Ariffin said the construction of RSGM is motivated by the lack of dentists, especially for the area. Dentist to population ratio is now 5 dentists for 100 thousand inhabitants. Ideally 11 doctors for 100 thousand inhabitants.

"To meet the needs of the dentist, here opened study program in dentistry (PSKG) which is one of the medical education program," he said.

Meanwhile, health research data base (Riskesdes) 2007 showed the proportion of people troubled teeth and mouth in South Kalimantan as much as 29.2 percent with an average of 6.83 teeth decay per person, or above the national average which is only 4.85 teeth per person.

"I hope with the establishment of the RSGM, teeth and mouth problems in South Kalimantan will continue to improve," he said.

Rector of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Ruslan Muhyi, Sp.A (K) reveals, RSGM will provide free dental treatment for two consecutive years. In fact, RSGM will do the shuttle program to the elementary to high school students who will perform the treatment as well as dental care collectively from their respective schools.
