Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tanah Bumbu government together with the combined farmers groups harvested 530 hectare of rice in Salimuran Village, Kusan Hilir Sub-district.
Head of the Tanah Bumbu Agriculture Office H. Setia Budi here on Tuesday (Nov 5, 2019) said, 18 farmers groups took part in the the harvest which using superior seeds.
"Farmers can harvest rice up to four times a year, because their agriculture land is rain fed and not far from Kusan River," Budi remarked.
Although in dry season, he explained, farmers can still water their fields utilizing Kusan River water by using pump machine, so they still can farm.

Farmers plant Makanggo rice seed, a type of fluffy rice, which will be distributed to government employees as a follow-up of food self-sufficientcy program.
To keep supporting the program, the local government provide the rice harvest facilities managed by Agriculture Office.

"As the Regent of Tanah Bumbu H. Sudian Noor have directed that the government owned agricultural tools, such as harvest tools, can be used for free by farmers," he pointed out.
But Budi said, the farmer should bring letter of recommendation from farmers group or village apparatus before using the agricultural tools.
