I am motivated and optimistic that the Class IIb Amuntai Prison will be a model, because of concern and support from the local government, related agencies, and the local office of Religous Affairs Ministry (Kemenag),Amuntai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Class IIb Amuntai Correctional Institution in North Hulu Sungai (HSU) is set to be a model of santri prison in South Kalimantan.
The aim of the determination is to motivate other prisons in South Kalimantan to compete in improving religious guidance for their inmates by providing "pesantren" (Islamic boarding school) in prisons.
"I am motivated and optimistic that the Class IIb Amuntai Prison will be a model, because of concern and support from the local government, related agencies, and the local office of Religous Affairs Ministry (Kemenag)," Head of South Kalimantan Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Right Agus Toyib remarked.

He said, the Amuntai Prison have succeeded in guiding most of its inmates as santri (student) in the integrated pesantren At-Taubah.
At-Taubah, said one of its management Ahmad Nawawi Abdurra'uf, was built since 2015 thanked to the concern of M Arsyad, who served as the warden in 2015.

He with Ahmad Nawawi Abdurra'uf, who is also Head of Counseling of the Kemenag of the HSU Office, often discussed the plan to build pesantren in Amuntai Prison.
Tit for tat, the plans got the support from the local government through Education Agency and the Kemenag Office. Now the santri of the At-Taubah has reached 407 inmates.

The At-Taubah strives to attract inmates interest to attend the majelis ta'lim (Islamic study forum) and daily prayers in congregation. Then they participated in ceramah and tadarus (Qur'an recital).

"We make serious effort to provide interesting, varied and innovative teaching until they interested in participating in the activities of the pesantren," said Nawawi.
He thanked the support of the current warden Moh. Yahya who continues to develop the Pesantren At Taubah.
