Balangan Learn from Banjar Landfill

Martapura, (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Balangan Environmental Agency (BLHD) learned management of landfill waste to produce methane gas from  the Government of Banjar Regency.

Balangan BLHD head Karim said in Martapura on Thursday (23/5) he and his team have learned a lot about Padang Panjang landfill  management how it able to produce methane gas.

"We were accompanied by two head field and head section straight to the landfill to see the processing of waste into methane gas," he said.

He said he was interested after knowing landfill waste was able to transform into electrical energy, which can be used for lighting and fuel.

Head of Cleanliness Department of Banjar Housing Agency Rahmaddin MY said, the process of landfill waste  was executed according to the concept of sustainable development, that is to utilize unused castoffs become useful again.

According to him, through the the good and true handling and processing of trash both organic and inorganic can be used as energy and fuel, thereby reducing expenditures.

He added, the volume of waste sent to landfill and processed into energy sources reached 150 cubic meters per day which is accommodated in an area of ​​16.5 hectare landfill area equipped with facilities and supporting facilities, including gatehouse, offices, warehouses, workshops, home greening, fish pond, generator shed, weigh stations, composting barn, the car wash and  a park.

"The concept of clean and green a priority so that the impression of a dirty landfill, smelly, dirty, and damage the health of the public could have been avoided otherwise waste utilized as a source of energy," he said.
