Eka Putri Agustina aspires a unique South Kalimantan Sasirangan fabric to penetrates the world market and provide new jobs for the people of the Bumi Lambung Mangkurat (the province's nickname).


To realize her obsession, Putri began to pursue Sasirangan craft after graduating from high school. She had only IDR 800 thousand from her saving at the time that she spent it to buy a sewing machine.

Thanks to the hard work she endured until the girl, born in Banjarmasin on August 2, 1991, managed to develop the Sasirangan fabric business in this city.

"I sewed it since 2010 and in the end of 2013 I started pioneering the Sasirangan fabric production business," said this beautiful woman.

In addition to sewing and producing Sasirangan, the final semester student in the English Department of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) developed a sewing course business for mothers.

"I charge Rp1.5 million for each person for sewing courses . The duration of the course is 10 days with a maximum number of participants of 35 people," she told the story.

From the results of the course, she said, a 2.5 percent profit was allocated to provide free courses to disadvantaged citizens.

"The business effort made my machine assets increased from one to 20 in the criteria of convection. Thank God for the effort that I lived diligently and patiently paid off," she said.

In the course of her business it turned out to get the attention of the Banjarmasin Youth and Sport Agency (Dispora) and the provincial government, and she got the help with an embroidery machine.

"My business has also had a positive impact on the community, especially the mothers who helped Sasirangan's fabric making process with reasonable wages," she said.

In fact, from the business she was running now her income becomes Rp50 million per month and she takes freelance workforce of around 50 people.

"My ideals want to be beneficial to others and boast of both parents," she explained.

Then, she said, after completing her undergraduate education majoring in English at the ULM, she would continue to the English Masters program to support her plan to build English language tutoring. She has then two power to see the world, the South Kalimantan typical cloth of Sasirangan and her English.
