Member of Commission III for Development and Infrastructure of the South Kalimantan DPRD hopes the utilization of solar power plants (PLTS) in Panjang Island or Burung Island in Simpang Empat Sub-district, Tanah Bumbu, to be maximally utilized.
A member of Commission III, who is also in charge of mining and energy, Surinto ST expressed his hope here on Tuesday after reviewing the centralized PLTS together with the South Kalimantan DPRD Speaker H Burhanuddin, his deputy H Hamsyuri, and Deputy Chair of Commission III H Safrudin H Maming.
He stated, it is necessary to review the PLTS (about 260 kilometers east of Banjarmasin) in order to ascertain whether the project that used Rp3.4 billion South Kalimantan's APBD funds has been operational and to what its extent its benefits.
According to the PKS faction vocalist, all people have the right to access electricity without exception, as it has become part of people's lives.
So far, the electricity needs of the residents of the Panjang Island have been obtained from the self-supporting diesel power plant (PLTD) managed by the village government, but the operational costs are very expensive and very burdensome to the residents.
With centralized PLTS, local people can enjoy electricity that is environmentally friendly and inexpensive if compared to using PLTD.
"It turned out that the PLTS was able to electrify 40 households," continued the legislator who represented the electoral area of South Kalimantan VI (Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu District).
"In addition to making maximum use of it, we also hope they do the best to care thus it function in a relatively long time," said Surinto.
