South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor stated that the provincial government would make every effort to optimize regional energy management.

His statement responded to the general view of the South Kalimantan DPRD factions over the draft regulation on the Regional Energy General Plan delivered at the plenary meeting in Banjarmasin on Thursday.

All opinions or suggestions from the South Kalimantan DPRD factions will be a concern in regional energy management, he said at a plenary meeting chaired by its chairman H Burhanuddin.

Previously the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Faction chaired by H Riswandi SIP asked the government to be more serious in thinking about alternative energy. The reason is, if it relies on fossil energy, such as oil and gas, in time it will run out because it cannot be renewed.

In addition, fossil energy utilization has an impact on environmental damage, so it needs to be anticipated early not to let ecosystem damage too severe.

PKS faction supports the provincial government to explore and seek alternative energy that is environmentally friendly.

"We hope that with the use of any energy, it will still be based on environmental friendliness," he said.

The Golkar Party faction expressed a similar opinion. According to the faction chaired by Dr. H Karlie Hanafi Kalianda SH MH, the non-renewable energy is limited to reserves or availability.

Therefore this fraction supports the draft regulation in the optimization of natural resource management in an efficient manner, to ensure continued development and maintain environmental balance.
