Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that South Kalimantan experienced deflation of 0.12 percent in February 2019.


BPS South Kalimantan Head Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Friday said that deflation in Banjarmasin was 0.07 percent, while in Tanjung it was 0.67 percent.

Deflation in Banjarmasin occurred due to lower prices of air transportation, mackerel, onion, gasoline and broiler eggs.

But at the same time, there was also an increase in the price of cars, filtered clove cigarettes, papuyu fish (climbing perch), house rent, and biscuits.

While in Tanjung there was a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation in chicken meat, onions, chicken eggs, cellular phones and gasoline.

"Commodities experiencing price increases with the highest share of inflation include cucumbers, peda fish, tilapia, spinach and mackerel or bloating," said the Head of BPS South Kalimantan.

Both inflation and deflation in South Kalimantan were measured based on price increases and falling prices that occurred in Banjarmasin and Tanjung (the capital of Tabalong Regency).

BPS also noted, the consumer price index in 82 cities. 13 cities experienced inflation and 69 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual City at 2.98 percent.
