Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Acting Head of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) Library and Archives Agency Mardiyono said library visitors from the general public were only about 10 percent.


"The rest, most of them are junior to high school students," he said during a press conference here, Monday (19/2).

He revealed, his side continues to try to attract people interest until the HST community in general likes to read and visit the library.

"At present, the number of book titles we have in the library is 7,661 and meets national standards," he said.

Meanwhile, book borrowing members recorded in 2018 are 950 people and the number of visits is 34 thousand people.

The library also holds storytelling services which is a national program by inviting elementary school children and directing them to love reading.

"We also open library services every Saturday and Sunday and travel around the car-free day," he said.

Routinely in the library went to schools twice in a week with only one library car.

"We also open a yellow book service. There are currently seven Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) being borrowed using the yellow book," he said.

The library has also collaborated with the police to fill reading corners in the waiting room and library in detention centers.

"At present there are 60 villages those have libraries and we do coaching," he concluded.
