Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The alumni of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) are expected to become entrepreneurs or glance at the business sector and are not fixated on the formal sector, such as being employees in government or private companies.


"This entrepreneurship is in accordance with ULM's future vision of becoming an entrepreneur university, which is an entrepreneur-based university by growing the potential of students to be able to open their own business," said ULM Deputy Rector IV for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations Prof. Dr. Ir. Yudi Firmanul Arifin on Monday (11/2).

He spoke during the Release of the New Masters and the Submission of the Alumni Postgraduate Program in the first period of ULM 2019 in the hall of the Postgraduate Building in Banjarmasin.

According to Yudi, producing prospective entrepreneurs is indeed a ULM challenge going forward. The knowledge and skills acquired during college are not solely used to work as employees, but how to succeed in the business sector.

"Change is increasingly fast and disruptive. Digital technology is now very influential in all sectors of life. Students and alumni must be aware of this in order to navigate increasingly fierce and hard competition," said he, who represented the ULM Chancellor Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi.

Yudi hopes that graduate students will also develop as the master's degree obtained is, of course, the science can be applied to do things that are beneficial for many people according to their duties in their respective fields of work.

There are 32 graduate students from 6 study programs, namely Masters in Education Management, Masters in Early Childhood Education Teacher (PAUD), Master of Science Teacher, Master of Development Administration, Master of Fisheries Science, and Masters in Natural and Environmental Management.

Three of the best graduates were chosen, namely Ratna Purwanti from the PAUD Teacher Education Masters Program with a GPA of 4.00, Noor Latifah from the Master of Fisheries Science with GPA 4.00 and Reza Irawan Santoso from the Masters in Natural Resources and Environmental Management with a GPA of 3.97.
