Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative of South Kalimantan seeks to develop the Islamic economy in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as a new economic power in increasing regional economic growth and building economic independence in the world of education.


Head of BI South Kalimantan Herawanto here on Monday said efforts to build a sharia economy were carried out through a series of activities starting from seminars on sharia economic development and visits to several pesantren on Saturday (2/2).

BI assesses that Islamic economic development in Islamic boarding schools has great potential to boost regional economic growth.

BI Deputy Dody Budi Waluyo during a visit to a number of pesantren in South Kalimantan said the Islamic economy would become a new strength of the Indonesian economy in the next few years.
 
One of the bases of sharia economic development is in Islamic boarding schools which in Indonesia are quite numerous.

"Many things can be done in Islamic boarding schools, starting from developing bottled water products (AMDK), agriculture, fisheries, plantations, livestock and others," he said.

Encouraging the growth of Islamic economics in Islamic boarding schools, BI has provided some assistance to the Darul Hijrah Islamic Boarding School, Cindai Alus, Banjar District, in the form of a cup sealer filling machine, tongda 2 jxf-2 line mineral water filling,  along with other supporting tools.

The tools are given as a means of developing bottled mineral water in glass to support the economic development of Islamic boarding schools, as a manifestation of the realization of the assistance program of the BI in South Kalimantan.
