Chairperson of the South Kalimantan Delegation Hanifah Dwi Nirwana from Helsinki said Monday that the South Kalimantan Provincial Government is promoting the potential of the region to Finland at the 2019 Matka-Nordic Travel Fair centered in Helsinki.
The participation of the team from South Kalimantan, he added, received a tremendous response from the Indonesian Ambassador to Finland and Estonia, HE Wiwik Setyawati Firman. She even opened the opportunity for the delegation to appear on the main stage of the Helsinki University of Arts.
On this main stage, the South Kalimantan delegation introduced the Baksa Kambang, Mohing Asang, and Begalang Tandik dances, to introduce South Kalimantan culture to academics.
In addition to dances, South Kalimantan offers other tourism potential, including typical Kalimantan animals. Proboscis monkeys are shown through the proboscis monkey clown.
"The proboscis clown, got a lot of visitors' attention, which on average claimed to be amazed and surprised by the existence of these long-nosed animals," he said.
In addition, it exhibited the tourism potential of tropical forests, Banjarmasin floating market and bamboo rafting from Loksado, South Hulu Sungai.
The Matka-Nordic Travel Fair is the largest tourism promotion event in the Northern Europe region, including the Nordic, Baltic and Russian markets.
Hanifah revealed, through the exhibition, the South Kalimantan delegation wanted to open the eyes of the world, that Indonesia is not only Bali, Yogyakarta and Lombok. But there is also South Kalimantan with its Banjar and Dayak cultures.
In this travel fair, South Kalimantan carries the tagline #South Borneo's Sustainable Rain Forest, the Lungs of the World through RR Tours and Travel and Fiesta Reisid tour operators.
