Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - While in other areas the recording of inmates data for electronic ID (KTP-el) was done by Disdukcapil, then in Kotabaru the data collection is carried out by the local prison.

Head of Kotabaru Prison Suhartomo said on Saturday this activity was a national program that took place in prisons and detention centers throughout Indonesia, from January 17 to 19.

"This is a follow up to cooperation between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights related to the completeness of the requirements to vote in the 2019 General Election," he said.

The implementation of the KTP-el data record simultaneously in prisons and remand centers is based on the number of prisoners (WBP) who are not included in the 2019 election final voter list, because they do not have KTP-el.

"As long as the voting rights are not revoked by the court in accordance with statutory provisions, the WBP is also entitled to choose and must be accommodated in the voter list," Suhartomo said.

In Kotabaru prison, he said, the number of inmates is currently around 880 people. Most have already participated in recording KTP-el data.

The simultaneously KTP-el data recording in this prison followed by 77 WBP, consisting of 46 WBPs from Kotabaru and 31 people from Tanah Bumbu.
